My fascination with world politic grew out of my love of sport. Watching, playing, and talking rugby got me thinking about the cultural lives that impact our national identities.
I started playing rugby as a young tacker. I was lucky enough to travel the world as a player, and meet people from all sorts of diverse backgrounds and belief systems who had a love of the game. When I went onto study, it was a natural progression to write my honours thesis about the sports war dynamic. This was a new beginning for me as I moved away from a career in rugby towards one in academia thinking about the ways different cultural experiences shape the way we live and perceive ourselves. As well as the way culture is used to shape us.
