Teaching & Leadership

Since joining the University Of Kent in 2018, my understanding of teaching has expanded to include working with students as well as behind the scenes on strategic development and planning.

In my role at Director Of Graduate Studies, I was a member of my school directorate through the pandemic, 3 restructures, and national union action. As part of these experiences I have developed a more nuanced understanding of what it is to be a contemporary academic who is a good teacher, a supportive colleague, and dedicated researcher.

Here I track some of those threads and how I am nurturing them in my professional life.

Supervision

I am interested in supervising PhD students engaging with popular culture and international relations, including projects associated with security studies, post-truth politics, embodiment, and the imagination.

If you are interested in working with me please

“It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.”
